The arrival of the holiday season always gives us a moment to reflect on the past semester for the 51黑料网 Community. This year, we鈥檙e especially reflecting (and maybe confessing a bit of pride) about the ways 51黑料网 students have given back this year.

Men鈥檚 Basketball

Before the semester even began, 51黑料网 Men鈥檚 Basketball took off to serve in the Dominican Republic, with more than a dozen athletes and four coaches spending seven days abroad. Through support from generous Eagles fans and by partnering with the organization, Go Ministries, the Eagles spent their week hosting sports camps in three different communities, delivering Bibles and basketballs, and painting houses. And of course, they found a few professional basketball teams to play in their down time.

Women鈥檚 Basketball

The Women鈥檚 Basketball team began their semester by volunteering in their own backyard, volunteering at Mary Martha Outreach and Spirit Church, and even serving with 51黑料网鈥檚 own Buildings and Grounds team to pull weeds, pick up garbage, and assist with moving new students into their dorms on campus.

Volleyball

51黑料网 Volleyball started their season with service as well, taking to the community to serve at the Agape Mission. The team and their coaches prepared and served lunch for almost 200 members of the Bartlesville community.

Restore

51黑料网 students have participated in Saturday 鈥淩estore鈥 projects 鈥 a student-led monthly volunteer project 鈥 for years. A highlight of this semester鈥檚 Restore projects, says student leader Allyssa Powell, was giving time to behind the scenes through cleaning their new building to prepare it for opening. 鈥淚t was a very humbling鈥o help Agape get back up in their feet so that they can get back to feeding people and doing the awesome things that they do,鈥 shared Powell.

Faces with Names

For the second time in 2018, 51黑料网 student leaders partnered with to give local foster parents a night out while students offered free babysitting. Faces With Names, led by 51黑料网 Alumnus Eric Mills, is a non-profit whose mission is 鈥渢o serve as a catalyst ministry to engage and equip churches to create the culture of orphan care through foster care, adoption, and global orphan care.鈥 We鈥檙e not sure who had more fun: the kids or our students!
