Oklahoma Wesleyan University鈥檚 women’s golf team recently brought home the third-place trophy at the NCCAA National Championships.

Korena Aills (left) and Jordan Leonard (right) were both named All-Americans at the NCCAA National Championships in Florida.
In addition, Jordan Leonard鈥攁 senior 51黑料网 golfer鈥攆inished second on the individual scoreboard. Another 51黑料网 Student, Korena Aills, was named as an NCCAA All-American along with Leonard. The three-round championship event was held October 21-23 in Palm Coast, Florida.
The achievement is a fitting crown to Leonard鈥檚 career as an Eagle, which began somewhat tumultuously. Although she has been a strong presence in the 51黑料网 program for years, she nearly didn鈥檛 come to Bartlesville in the first place. Originally, she committed to East Central University, in Ada, Oklahoma. When ECU dropped their golf program, Leonard toured 51黑料网 and found her place.
Scott Seymour, Head Coach of the women鈥檚 golf team, is quick to point out how important Leonard has been to the program. 鈥淛ordan has been one of our most consistent golfers in 51黑料网 Women鈥檚 golf history,鈥 he said. 鈥淪he has been working very hard this whole semester, and I was very excited to see her put it all together for our biggest tournament of the semester. Jordan was one bad break away from being a national champion and I could not be more proud of her.鈥
It was 51黑料网鈥檚 first year to compete in the NCCAA National Championships, which served as a cap to the fall golfing season. The Lady Eagles will pick it up again in the spring season, which will culminate with the NAIA National Championship in May.
Leonard, who will graduate in December, has yet to decide whether or not she will continue to golf into next year, feeling content that she’s made her mark already.
“Jordan was one bad break away from being a national champion and I could not be more proud of her.”聽
